London: Twiprom

This report is written directly by Antonella who had the luckiness to participate at the TwiProm in London, a convention organized to enable the British Twilight fans to interact with their favorite actors. Here is her story:

“From 18 to 20 September 2009, respectively in London and Birmingham, was held the Twilight prom” In the Shadow of the Moon.”At first the program had as guests Kellan Lutz (Emmett), Chaske Spencer (Sam Uley), and José Zuniga (Professor Molina), but due to commitments on the Eclipse set, Kellan Chaska and were replaced by Charlie Bewley (Demetri) and Daniel Cudmore (Felix). Throughout my life I had never attended a convention “fan”, but this time, curious and driven by love for the Twilight saga, I decided to buy a ticket for the event in London. I didn’t know what to expect: I was afraid of being surrounded by very young and screaming girls… and whereas that I got over my adolescence a while ago, I was rather embarrassed at the idea. I left with Paola, a girl I met on the New Moon set in Montepulciano, we take bravery each other.

..

Sept. 18: at dawn, the adventure begins. Throughout the trip, we spoke at length of the unforgettable experience of Montepulciano, wondering if that London could match it in some way. Once we arrived in London we went to ‘London Hilton Metropole Hotel’ where the event takes place. At 15 started recording. Each participant was given an envelope containing gadgets, photos, event schedule and a personal badge. 16 was opened the merchandising area, a bit disconcerting where, to say the truth, they only sold photos, posters and mugs dedicated to New Moon. I was expecting something more .. but never mind …

A bit tired for up early morning, Paola and I went to sit in a parlor and who suddenly emerges? Our heroes … I wanted to go over and say hi, but the security people asked us to move away because they had to do interviews.
 Meanwhile the big night arrangements there was intense in the 3rd-floor suite …

In the evening Twiprom began with a brief presentation of Charlie, Daniel and Jose that have been made to accommodate on a stage and greeted the fans. Answering the question “What do you think will happen when it hits New Moon?”, Charlie said he was already an idea during their stay in Montepulciano, where there were 5000 screaming fans … then he asked if there was there someone who ‘s in Italy and I said “Me”.

After the presentation the party started! We entered all in a beautiful danceroom, passing under a gazebo Twilight style! We have also photographed, awkwardness!!! Daniel, Charlie and Jose were in the VIP section but moved often and photographs with those who hadn’t access to that area. In fact you could buy two tickets, Standard (like the one I bought myself) and Gold giving access to the VIP area as other small benefits. Anyway we all had a chance to greet, hug and take pictures with them, theat were available and friendly to everyone, indeed it would be better to say all, because we were women in the majority.

Now the surprise … at least for me. Before entering the danceroom, I had bought (for 5 pounds) a ticket for the raffle. The prize was a dance with a choice actor, Daniel in my case. Unbelievable but I won the dance with him! There have been two rounds of dancing, then only six participants won, we were really lucky. My awkwardness was conceivable for many reasons, the Daniel’s height, the fact of dancing in front of everyone in the middle of the track with so many people….

The song was “Flightless Bird” from the Twilight soundtrack, and Daniel was kind, loving, meantime we dancing has answered all my questions and tried to “stoop” to my height. After the dance also gave me two kisses on the cheeks! However, during our chat (and also the next morning I managed to speak with him quietly) I discovered that:
Daniel does not know who the cast will be at the film festival in Rome (but did not deny that someone will be present); has
participated (or will attend, I felt good because the music was high) the filming of Eclipse, then theoretically the scene of Felix and Jane arrive in Forks after the battle with the newborns was put in the filming;
 Breaking Dawn shooting will begin in the next spring, but he didn’t know when exactly, (we remember you that right now, 2 / 2010 don’t yet know anything about it…)
; he was amused to film the fight scene with Edward (we discussed the fact that isn’t present in the novel but that would be appropriate for the director ’cause more cinematic).

He also said that in New Moon there are other action moments with the Volturi that we until now haven’t seen … During the festival I also took a picture with Charlie, very sweet, which grabbed me and Paola and gave us two kisses on the cheeks … (he was sweet with everyone anyway).
 The evening ended late and we got up early next morning. ..

September 19: started the photo session of individuals. I’ve had done one with all three actors. The photographer did an excellent job, the pictures a were beautiful and the amazing thing was that he has taken in the morning and in the afternoon delivered us…. we were about 150 people … great job! After the picture was the turn of autographs. Unfortunately the room was forbidden to take pictures. The actors were seated behind a table on which were placed various types of markers. I made an autographed photo of Charlie and Daniel captured May 25 in Montepulciano, midday, and the legendary T-shirt “I was an extra in Montepulciano.”

Charlie and Daniel were very amused! Daniel commented with “Then you’re in the movie !!!!” …. And I “Well certainly with a red hood on head … very recognizable!” but the important thing is participating, not? Jose Zuniga is very nice, in the morning before entering the hotel I felt touched my arm and wish good morning, this is to explain what kind person he is. While I was signing autographs we chatted a bit in Spanish, a language I studied, he would like to learn Italian …. so I volunteered because I’m a teacher .. 8-)

After lunch it was the turn of the Q & A, about an hour of questions and answers with the actors. Questions were selected by the organizers from among those sent by e-mail participants. Also bought mine for Daniel and Charlie “What is the best memories of your stay in Montepulciano? ” Charlie: “The mozzarella cheese party, a dinner organized for the cast of mozzarella …” (they didn’t specify when, but was enthusiastic)
 Daniel: “Get on a Fiat 500” a suitcase with wheels like he said (muahahahah). However, both have a good memory of those days, irrespective of “the bunch of screaming females”or the group of girls screaming.

Photographing or filming was forbidden to do during the Q & A, a real shame because it was very interesting, but probably they will put all on DVD. All three looked very honest in their responses, for example, when candidly admitted not having read the books before reading the script and from what I understand have not even finished reading. Among the many questions I remember  “Do you feel like a family on the set?” Jose: “In the Twilight was so with ‘humans’ “, they were always together and were like a family;
Charlie and Daniel: ” The Volturi are ‘a family’, but not like the Cullens, who are very close.” They would not say they feel like intruders, but Daniel said, “It’s a bit like when your parents divorce and remarry and you feel the other child.”

After the Q & A actors greeted the audience and left for Birmingham. The fun was not over though. There was a quiz with questions about the book in the series (I did not win .. sob) like “what color and model is the car driven by Rosalie?“, And finally the auction. Here I witnessed surreal scenes. A girl bought a baseball ball autographed by Peter Facinelli at the “modest” amount of 600 pounds! There’s no limit to the madness, or at least to me it seemed too … To conclude my story: I’m happy to have participated in this event, I enjoyed it so much and I must admit that the age factor, which worried me so much, has not been a problem and I’d love to take part in a similar convention in the future. There weren’t many Italians in the Twilight Prom London, probably just me and Paola, but in return many French (who were also in Montepulciano).

A few words about the organization, if any of you would buy a ticket for their events: “excellent organization” and think that crew’s members are all volunteers, and even not very young, there were several Mrss. A little curiosity: I asked if they had never invited Rob Pattinson: “Yes, they did so at an event dedicated to Harry Potter in Manchester, but Rob had not yet turned Twilight and its fame was not at these levels. Now, would be impossible for him to attend such a convention. Charlie, Daniel and Jose could easily be among the fans (Charlie danced and did the train …), but Rob couldn’t afford it, can you imagine what would happen ?!? Poor guy …

Excuse me for having further elaborated, but there was so much to tell! “
